SON & FATHER LEAD CLUB INTO 2010-11 SEASON

Stothert & Pitt RFC are keeping things in the family for the 2010 � 11 season campaign in the Somerset Premier league with Ben Withey taking over the club captaincy from Liam Crooks who completed three seasons at the helm. Ben�s dad Steve has moved into the club hot seat as head coach assisted by Jamie Knocker, who retired from playing at the end of last season, and there has excellent turn outs for the pre season training sessions at Corston on Tuesday and Thursday nights � 6.30pm for another campaign in the Somerset premier league that start with a home fixture against Weston Hornets The second XV will again be in Somerset Division3 north and Paul Thurston continues for a second spell as 2nd XV captain and have a first match at home against Cheddar who return to league rugby after a number of years absence. The 3rd XV will play non league friendly fixtures. Following the success of theclub under 18 and under 17 youth section squads over the last two rugby seasons Stothert & Pitt RFC are now actively recruiting in the age groups of 16-17 and 10-12 year olds for the 2010 -2011 playing season. The 16-17 year old age group will play in Division 2 North of the Dorset & Wilts merit table on Sunday afternoons and it is our intention to play friendly rugby for the 10-12 year old age group against other local clubs on Sunday mornings between September 2010 and April 2011 and would welcome parents to become actively involved The club holds the Rugby Football Union Seal of Approval accreditation in respect of youth and mini rugby. A recruitment morning will be held at Corston on Sunday July 18th for new 10 -12 year olds with registration at 10:30am followed by an hour of fun introduction to rugby. Hi all As you all know the club is is looking to raise money for the installation of full pitch new floodlight to be installed in October. Social Secretary Dan Smith is organsing a sponsored 12 hour touch rugby session and an auction of body waxing on Saturday July 10th. (Further details to follow) The club has been offered 50% of the estimated cost of �40,000 from the Rugby Football Union towards the total cost leaving the club to fund the balance and raise our share of �40,000 between now and installation. Dan is looking for volunteers who would like to put their name forward to have chest, legs, back, arms, ass etc waxed for auction with all money raised going towards the floodlight fund. Could anyone interested please contact Dan. Can everyone please make an effort to keep this day free and stay for ther duration, there will be a BBQ all day and beer flowing from 9am. TUESDAY 6th JULY 2010 18:30 Right guys new Season, new coach and new Captain. Exciting times are ahead for the Cranes with floodlights in place to be installed for the winter,3 senior sides, 2 youth teams and a ladies team on the horizon. It's only fair to say that we are definitely moving up. It's that time of year again when we need to get back together and blow a few cobwebs away with some much needed training. Let's put behind the past 12 months and look forward to a great season with a great bunch of players and get back to being the feared pitt dogs we once were. As we all know we have the talent in our club to go places and its time we showed the league what we have on offer so lets get behind the coaching staff and club captains Ben Withey and Paul Thurston and start the season off with a bang and keep the momentum up throughout the year.
